seated and opening statements are expected to begin today in the lululemon murder trial. >> a case that rattles a bethesda community a yoga store employee accused of killing her coworker, live outside the courthouse with more. >> good morning and of course it took 300 members of montgomery county potential jurors to whittle the pool down to 60, 65 that is where we are hopeful of that number, they will find the 12 member jury and 5 alternates in this trial can begin. prosecutors had a minor set back, photos they wanted to use during opening statements the judge ruled too gruesome to be displayed to the jury in opening statements this of course the trial is of 29-year- old brittany norwood accused of killing her coworker jana murray back in march it started as an argument in which murray

president obama today set to officially announce a plan to help college grads repay student loans this comes as the cost of a university education continues to rise. the figures paint a depressing picture for students and parents average tuition and fees at four year college rose $631 this year, nationally the cost of a full credit load is more than $8,000 all time high, throw in room and board and average runs more than $17,000 a year. we get more now on how the president wants to help from foxs doug luzader. >> this is part of the president's go it alone approach trying to force changes when congress won't play along. if president obama is worried about his re-election prospects he didn't sound that way on jay leno's tonight show last night he was asked about republican challengers. i will wait until everybody is voted off the island. >> reporter: but there is

police in california overnight skirmishes broke out as riot police arrest dozens of occupy protestors in oakland. the protests started peacefully. >> reporter: cops in california are clamping down on protestors in oakland. >> hundreds of opd officers as well as alleyed agencies came to the plaza, to remove approximately 200 campers that have been camping there, overnight for the past two weeks. >> reporter: demonstrators there, much like other cities across the country are protesting against what they claim is corporate greed. cops moved in to clear the park on tuesday, warning protestors they are breaking the law. at one point officers fired tear gas and bean bags in response to demonstrators pelting officers with debris. >> there were no injuries reported, to either demonstrators, arrestees or police officers but some there say otherwise calling the

million people facing hunger and in many cases starvation. more than 30,000 children most of whom live in somalia, have already died, over the course of the last three months and this crisis effects kenya and ethiopia and other countrys in that region. >> complicating this, obviously you've got to extraordinary famine going on for a long time but complicating this is conflict in the area, correct? >> absolutely long standing conflict inside somalia and boarder areas, and the fact that al shebab a group affiliated with al qaeda is often preventing humanitarian workers from reaching children in most need but the good news is and there is some good news right now, specific results oriented actions can save tens of thousands of children from dying over the course of the next few months and we can all make some specific investments

fox 5s holly morris is at the verizon center. >> where the 53rd annual washington international horse show is going on now until sunday this is a big event hey, holly. >> reporter: it is a huge event tony in fact, the history of this event is impressive as well, you know president's eisenhower, kennedy, ford all came to the washington international horse show, bruce springsteen, gia gia gabor, william shat inner we are talking about the real stars of the show, horses themselves. 500 horses are competing over the 6 days here and we are talking about horses that are the best of the best, these are elite equine athletes, and so they have to take a lot of precautions to make sure that the horses are kept safe and that is where sherry and michelle come in, they are with

humane, equine aid and rapid transport, known as the equine ambulance. good morning you have one of those jobs we hope you are not busy at all. >> exactly >> absolutely. >> but you are always on site here give me an idea what you have what you need to have and what you do. >> well, as you mentioned, we have equine athletes, and in any sporting event, there is risk, risk of injury we are actually hired by horse showman imaginement and we would like to thank randy johnson -- management and we would like to thank randy johnson from greener pastures equine for sponsoring us to be here we are support to the vets, veterinary would assess any situation if for any reason the horse needs to be transported to surgery, that is what we are here for we are actually trained in large animal rescue we have equipment

to transport a horse if for any reason he is severely injured. >> is there a head vet on staff here throughout the show. >> yes. >> dr. barber is the horse show vet, and he often times, is horse show vet at different veni yous we are here because we have -- venues, we are here because we have equipment most vets don't have all the time we are trained in transporting a horse that is down this is more or less our stretcher we food to be able to transport the animal often times when -- we need to be able to transport the animal often times when horses are injured they panic we assist the vet and would basically put the horse on the stretcher he would be tranquilized we have our horse trailer here equipped with a winch they are rather large animals to transport so we would use the winch and put him up on to the horse trailer and we would transport him to the

local clinic where we would be dealt with surgically. >> it is funny you bring that up about them being large animals, some people would be surprised there are two women manning the ambulance dealing with such a heavy horse how often are you guys called into action. >> actually not very often and many times it is more something like a colic, where we are dealing with an illness as opposed to injury if we need to deal with an injury however the training that we have, is utilizing very technical, specific techniques that allow us to utilize mechanical advantages, so that we are not using brute strength to move a 1300-pound horse. >> we go through a training called technical large animal emergency rescue and that gives us a full complement of training that allows us to safely package the animal on to the rescue glide with assistance from the vet making

sure they are an nose tuesdayed. what makes you say this is what i want to do. we are all very experienced horse people we come from different disciplines, different walks of life but you know mainly, helping animals, i think most people who work with horses and work with animals, just love to be able to help in any situation. >> be in the environment any way they can. >> they are wonderful animals we get to be here, watch them compete they are just beautiful you know. >> they really are one is more gorgeous than the next i know that a lot of the owners of the horses and of course some of the riders own their own horses but some just ride the horses these horses are their life so if something happens to them how many of them want to ride in the ambulance with the horse. >> their owners as you said, it is their children they often will travel with us in the truck we will take them with us
